NAPS APPEAL THE PREVENTION OF ASUP NATION WIDE SRIKE.

The Nigeiria we are trying to build is a Nigeria where hard work and sweat in service will be commended and encouraged, not a nation where workers will be deprived their pay in delay, exposed to poverty, miserable and impecuniousness after hard work.

Appealing rescue from federal government of Nig to save Nigeria Polytechnic Students future became imperative as the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) is set for a nation wide industrial action over the nonpayment of members salaries in six States including Oyo, Osun, Plateau, Benue, Abia and Imo.

We contend it is nothing cut short of insensitivity, callousness and wickedness for any institution or government to be indebted to it's workers much as eight to ten months. The refusal, reluctant and delay in salary payment is an agent of frustration capable of crippling peace and orderliness in a country.

Considering the polytechnic community is yet to recover from a thirteen months nation wide strike which paralysis the 2013/2014 academic session, that boils down to the loss of the students and the highest price payer during and after the strike. Our leadership can not afford staying back at home watch our future altered or joked with.

We solidarise and join the staff union in condemning the callous act of state governments oweing lecturers for as much as eight to ten months, we declare our support to the union getting their pay from concerns state governments by all means other than closing our institutions.

With all patriotism we implore all concerned state governments to as a matter of urgency see to the payment of all salaries/ allowances arrears, any further delay will call for mass solidarity action, students taking to the streets to seek payment of our lecturers and academic resumption of affected institutions.

Also do we call on President Muhammadu Buhari to intervene and end the unnecessary dichotomy between Bachelors Degree and Higher National Diploma, the establishment of National Commission for Polytechnics and the implantation of the needs assessment report.

Signed
Comrade Olugbode Damola (D-Mode)
NAPS National P.R.O
