HND/BSC DICHOTOMY A MULTIFACETED PROBLEM

Victorious songs of the abolishment of HND/BSC dichotomy, rented the air having most polytechnic students and graduates in celebration over the long anticipated victory. Overwhelmingly I read on social media the delighted reactions, exultations and jubilations on the favorable outcome of the Council of Establishment's meeting in Mina which gave a pointing solution to the multifaceted problem of HND/BSC dichotomy.

The HND/BSC dichotomy still survive this long due to poor or no implementation of policy statement. Struggle against HND/BSC dichotomy has always record tremendous victory in its agitation, but are faced with execution challenges from conscienceless power in authority. President Olusegun Obasanjo once pronounced the abolishment of the dichotomy but the development was massively stampeded by cabals who derive joy in the unwarranted superiority contest of the duo certificate.

The awarding of B.tech and higher certificates in the Polytechnic system is yet to be achieved, the governmental sentiments to the system increases and yet we are celebrating the removal of dichotomy.

The fast trending news of the ceiling removal on carrier progression remains speculation until its official acknowledgement by the Council of Establishment. The council is an authority whose act and stand is unambiguous, precise and clear. The news is hence advice to be treated like a rumor till further elucidation on the purported communiqué of the Mina conference.

Optimism is our religion in the struggle for the abolishment of HND/BSC dichotomy, we identify our demands and remain firm on them, we refuse to be cajole into speculations and rumors.
